📘 What's a Functional Capacity Assessment?
A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a comprehensive report prepared by a qualified therapist. It provides insight into how your child functions day-to-day and is often used to:

FCA reports typical take between 3-4 weeks to complete and typically involve up to 15 hours of therapists' time.

Sensory Assessments
Rural Children's Therapy also offers stand alone sensory assessments for children between the ages of 2-14 who have sensory concerns.
Sensory concerns may present in the following ways and can be due to poor internal interoception:
Touch: hair brushing and tooth brushing may cause discomfort, textures of food or clothing may cause disturbance etc.
Taste: avoidance of particular foods, unpleasant reactions to tooth paste, gagging and food aversions
Smell: child complains of 'yucky' smells undetected by others or conversely cannot smell what others can
Sight: aversion to bright lights, struggling to adjust between bright and dim lighting etc.
Hearing: covering ears when there are loud noises including vacuuming, lawnmowing etc. overwhelm in crowed areas such as school or shopping centres.
As sensory assessment may take up to five hours for a therapist to complete.
Typically a therapist will want to see how your child presents over a video consult and and may have the parent complete questionnaires.
Please allow a budget of $969.95 for a sensory assessment to be conducted.
